About the School-Based Civic Engagement for Reconciliation (SFR) Program
The School-Based Civic Engagement for Reconciliation (SFR) Program seeks to build school-based community relationships that directly support reintegration and reconciliation aims. SFR engages directly with educators to increase their capacity to foster empath, inclusion, and active citizenship in their students, schools and communities.

IREX seeks a qualified short-term consultant to support the School-Based Civic Engagement for Reconciliation (SFR) program by creating and facilitating up to two in person sessions for an SFR training workshop in Erbil, Iraq, tentative for June 2025. Additionally, the consultant will engage in up to three virtual sessions on emotional support between July – October 2025. The period for the scope of work will be up to 12 days within the period of May 2025 – November 2025, which includes time for developing material, travel, and time for implementing sessions.

Consultant will work remotely while developing curriculum content; Consultant will travel to Erbil, Iraq to facilitate in person during the workshop. If not able to travel, consultant will deliver content virtually.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate two sessions focused on promoting resiliency for students and strategies for educators in identifying signs of students with trauma and how they can best support students with emotional support to remain successful in school and the community. The workshop is expected to be held in June 2025 (subject to change).
- Facilitate at least two emotional support sessions for the SFR program that includes travel to Erbil, Iraq.
- Facilitate up to three virtual sessions between July – October 2025 (subject to change).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum experience of five years working in MHPSS
- Masters Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
- Preferred applicants will be licensed (or the country equivalent) to provide mental health services (i.e. counseling, social work, psychology, or similar field)
- Fluency in both written and spoken English required
- Fluency in both written and spoken Arabic preferred
SKILLS
- Expertise in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for youth and educators
- Experience with Do No (More) Harm (DNmH) and trauma-informed principles
- Experience in training on MHPSS topics
- Experience in designing and facilitating in person and virtual training for educators
- Experience in contributing to policies around the prevention of gender-based violence
- Experience working in conflict areas in the Middle East and North Africa region
- Expertise in trauma, depression, anxiety and chronic stress treatment for adults and children;
- Expertise in cross cultural communication and cross cultural conflict resolution
