Capacity-Building Module Development Consultants (Short-term opportunity)

Summary of Responsibilities
IREX seeks a qualified consultant to lead the development and creation of a capacity building module for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on developing lexicons of Technology-Facilitated Gender Based Violence.
Please note this position is part-time and based on the needs of the project, with an expected engagement of 15 days of effort distributed across three (3) months. The chosen consultant will work remotely; no travel will be required or offered.
Your Anticipated Tasks
The research consultancy will perform the following tasks:
- Work with the Transform Technical Advisor to rapidly identify and understand the requirements for developing localized lexicon of online gendered abuse and hate speech/TFGBV and what civic society organizations and media need to be able to create and utilize these lexicons in their work.
- Undertake desk research to compile and analyze existing resources on lexicon development, “do’s” and “don’ts” in lexicon development, technical (digital tools and applications; technical knowledge and skills, etc.) and resource (expertise, software, etc.) needs, and other related topics.
- Identify gaps in current capacity strengthening resources and assess the relevance of these resources to the context of the Transform program and make a list of gaps and outstanding needs.
- Address the gaps by adapting/modifying existing resources to fit the needs of the client and developing additional resources where they are lacking to create a training curriculum and accompanying materials for organizations that can use lexicons to improve their ability to prevent and address TFGBV.
- Conduct a trial workshop delivering the content of the training materials for the Transform team and incorporate feedback and recommendations into the final product.
Deliverables
- Deliverable 1: Development plan, identifying the content to be created, the resources to be utilized, and the timeline of module development.
- Deliverable 2: Needs and Gaps Assessment checklist developed and submitted.
- Deliverable 3: Training curriculum and materials (PPT, handouts, tools, pre- and post-assessment questionnaire, etc.) developed and delivered in a trial workshop for the client team to gain feedback and recommendations for finalizing.
- Deliverable 4: Final comprehensive training module, with a two - three days training curriculum on developing and using lexicons of TFGBV to prevent and address this threat, in client format and incorporating client feedback submitted.
Your Background & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in in gender or women’s studies, international development, social science, or another relevant field, advanced degree preferred.
- Technical knowledge and expertise in gender equality and social inclusion.
- Technical knowledge and expertise in using tech tools for monitoring threats to gender equality in digital spaces.
- Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of hate speech trends and patterns both online and offline, including familiarity with existing hate speech and TFGBV lexicons or similar tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in localizing content.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting need assessments and developing training modules/curriculum, training materials, etc.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in facilitating stakeholder/working group consultations and training.
- Relevant regional and international experience will be an added advantage.
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English.
