POSITION SUMMARY 

IREX is implementing a media project in South Asia. The Project Lead/Trainings-of-Trainer (ToT) Expert, under the supervision of the Project Director, will be hired to be the local contact person responsible for all aspects of the planning and implementation process.  

The position is open to all qualified applicants.  

Preference will be given to local nationals based in South Asia and South East Asia (e.g. Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia).  

Please note this position is part time with an expected approximate 150 consulting days per year. IREX reserves the right, based on availability of funding and vendor performance, to enter into subsequent contractual agreements with the winning vendor for a period of up to three years without issuing a new call for applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Support the implementation of a training initiative in South Asia; 

• Lead the process of partner and beneficiary group identification through the use of regional networks;  

• Provide strategic and technical leadership and serve as principal liaison between IREX headquarters and civil society partners, program beneficiaries, media and information stakeholders, other donors and implementers; 

• Supervise, manage, and mentor project staff in close coordination with IREX headquarters; 

• Oversee and lead the initiative’s regional finance and compliance, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting;  

• Ensure project planning and activities are implemented on schedule and are on track; 

• Report on activities as required by Project Director; 

• Participate in meetings and/or calls with staff;  

• Support the program on its gender and social inclusion initiatives as needed,  

• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.  

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

• Demonstrated experience in project design and implementation, including design of budgets, timelines, and workplans as well as identifying and liaising with relevant partners and beneficiary groups for implementation;  

• Track record of successful project management (both technical and financial) preferably from the start-up phase, including managing and supervising a small team, consultants included;  

• Expertise in conducting risk assessments and substantial experience working in high-risk environments;  

• Experience in designing, managing, and conducting trainings and ToTs and understanding of adult learning techniques;  

• Experience with media safety trainings, especially from a holistic perspective is a plus;  

• Demonstrated expertise in training programming, curriculum development, monitoring and evaluation, report writing;  

• In-depth knowledge of the media and civil society sector, as well as the operating environment and media landscape in the South Asia region; 

• Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills;  

• Ability to communicate and manage tasks across different cultures;  

• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English; 

• Valid passport and travel permission, for potential international travel; and 

• Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to new program activity requirements and helping others to stay on track.
