IREX seeks multiple qualified Education Specialists to work on the anticipated five-year, $16.25M, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)-funded Access to and Progression through Secondary Education Activity in Belize. This Activity focuses on increasing the percentage of primary graduates that enroll in and complete secondary school; supporting interventions regarding the transition from primary to secondary school; and improving the retention of students in secondary school.

We are looking for candidates with subject matter expertise in secondary education with a focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Early warning systems and identifying students at risk for drop out
- Literacy and numeracy remediation programs
- Inclusive education and identifying and supporting the diverse learning needs of structurally excluded students (e.g., indigenous students, immigrant students, special education needs students, and students living with trauma)
- Training and professional development of secondary educators to improve the quality of teaching and learning, create an inclusive learning environment for students, and increase students’ access to and retention in secondary schools
- Development and implementation of policies, guidelines, and practices that support and encourage students’ equitable access, enrollment, attendance, participation, and academic success in secondary school.
- Post graduate degree in teacher training, curriculum development, education administration, public administration or a related field
- Minimum six years of experience implementing complex education programs in developing countries and regional experience in Belize and/or the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in areas such as inclusive education, early warning systems, identification of early dropouts, remedial education, improving learning environment, curriculum development, development of education policies, and teacher training programming and development
- Demonstrated success in establishing strong working relationships with secondary schools and relevant stakeholders (e.g., senior government officials, local educational organizations, NGOs, parents/caregivers, industry, international donors, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build consensus
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution abilities
- Experience producing planning documents, analytical work, and reports
- Advanced professional fluency in English.
