Summary of Responsibilities 
IREX seeks a qualified research consultant based in Guatemala to support development of 2 localized case studies related to Technology-Facilitated Gender Based Violence in Guatemala. 
Please note this position is part-time and based on the needs of the project, with an expected engagement of 20 days of effort distributed across May, June, and July 2024. The chosen consultant will work remotely; no travel will be required or offered. 
 
Your Anticipated Tasks 
The research consultancy will perform the following tasks in Guatemala. 
•    Working collaboratively with the Transform Technical Advisor to rapidly identify key organizations and networks engaged in raising awareness of and building resilience to TFGBV against women including human rights defenders and indigenous women in Guatemala. 
•    Identify and interview key informants.  
•    Conduct focus groups with relevant persons as appropriate. 
•    Review documents and/or research materials as appropriate. 
•    Submit two case study reports, incorporating feedback on drafts from the Transform team. 

Deliverables  
•    Deliverable 1: Research plan, identifying key individuals and organizations to profile, proposed research methods (e.g., interviews, document review, focus groups), and proposed participant recruitment plan. 
•    Deliverables 2 & 3: Drafts of two case study reports documenting the outcomes of tasks listed above which could include but are not limited to data collected from focus groups, outcomes of key informant interviews, data from surveys with participants, description and explanation of vulnerable populations, and review and analysis of both strategies of disseminating gendered disinformation as well as strategies of mitigating, resisting, and countering gendered disinformation. 
•    Deliverables 4 & 5: A final draft of each case study report incorporating feedback and review by the Transform team. 

Your Background & Skills 
•    Bachelor’s degree in in gender or women’s studies, international development, social science, or another relevant field, advanced degree preferred. 
•    Technical knowledge and expertise in gender equality and social inclusion 
•    Demonstrated experience with GESI mainstreaming on international donor-funded programs. Familiarity with USAID or USG GESI strategies, frameworks and requirements preferred.  
•    Experience upholding high ethical standards in research 
•    At least three (3) years’ experience conducting research  
•    Previous experience conducting gender research preferred 
•    Qualitative and quantitative research skills  
•    Excellent written and oral command of Spanish and of English 
•    Physically based in Guatemala. 
•    Preferred: human subjects research certification through CITI training or other comparable programs
